In response to a publication by The Fourth Estate, Dr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Policy Advisor on Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President has disputed claims that he failed to comply with President Mahama’s directive on asset declaration.
The publication, titled “ASSET DECLARATION: 55 Appointees & Staffers Defy Mahama’s Order,” erroneously listed Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo among those purportedly flouting the President’s order.
In a resolute statement, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo clarified that he had, in fact, meticulously completed and submitted his asset declaration forms to the Ghana Audit Service, fully adhering to constitutional and statutory requirements.
He revealed that after initial submission, his forms, along with a few others from the Office of the Vice President, were returned by Audit Service officials for minor corrections.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, specifically a medical absence from the jurisdiction, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo was temporarily unable to resubmit the corrected forms.
However, upon his return, he promptly effected the necessary corrections and resubmitted the forms, which were duly received by the Ghana Audit Service.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo had provided this clarification to The Fourth Estate during their verification process, yet the publication chose to disregard the accurate information and proceeded to issue a report that tarnished his reputation.
Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law, emphasizing his wholehearted support for the President’s directive on asset declaration.
He respectfully urged The Fourth Estate and all media outlets to uphold the principles of accuracy and fairness in their reporting, particularly on matters that impact reputations and public trust.
