The former Finance Minister has come under heavy criticism from Wonder Madilo, a prominent member of the NDC Communications Team, who believes that the current economic challenges in Ghana can be largely attributed to his mismanagement.

In a candid interview on GHOne TV, Madilo accused the former minister of being disconnected from the struggles of the Ghanaian people and failing to address the country’s financial needs.

“The reality is that the former Finance Minister has lost the trust and sympathy of the people,” Madilo stated.

“His leadership has driven the country into an economic quagmire. His approach lacked sensitivity towards the growing needs of Ghanaians and the economic sectors that require urgent attention, from healthcare and education to overall economic growth.”

Madilo didn’t shy away from pointing out that the discontent wasn’t just from opposition groups but also from within the ruling party.

He referenced reports of approximately 80 members of the minister’s own party calling for his resignation. Despite this, the president chose to retain him in office, a decision Madilo described as troubling. “It’s clear that even his own party lost faith in him. Yet, the president continued to back him, which I find extremely concerning,” he added.

He further criticized the former minister’s tenure, pointing to numerous failures, such as mounting losses at state institutions and stalled government projects, as clear evidence of poor economic leadership.

According to Madilo, these missteps have made it difficult for the former minister to regain public support, even in light of reports about his ill health.

“There’s been a level of financial recklessness we’ve never seen before,” Madilo concluded. “Even when he claims to be sick, Ghanaians have lost faith, and his attempts to garner sympathy have fallen on deaf ears.”
