Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized the party’s leadership, calling for a resignation of its current executives.

According to Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, the party’s poor performance in the 2024 elections has exposed the leadership’s inability to manage and reorganize the party effectively. His comments are reigniting debate about the party’s direction and leadership.

In a strong defense of Adwoa Safo’s recent remarks, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe argued that the principles of democracy, which the NPP was built on, inherently protect members’ right to voice their opinions.

“The party was established on the principle of democracy, which includes the freedom to express differing views. Every member has the right to speak, and what Adwoa Safo did was not wrong,” he said.

He emphasized that all members who truly care about the party should have raised concerns following the electoral outcome.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe took aim at the current NPP executives, claiming that their leadership has failed both the party and its supporters.

“If I were in their shoes, I would have resigned by now. We need leaders who are genuinely committed to the party’s success, not those who are focused on personal gains,” he remarked during an interview on Joy Prime, as monitored by MyNewsGh.

He further criticized the committee formed to investigate the party’s election loss, stating that those behind it were part of the problem.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe claimed that the executives who formed the committee were elected under questionable circumstances, including alleged bribery, which he said has never been an issue within the NPP before.

When asked about Adwoa Safo’s potential meeting with the party’s disciplinary committee, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe dismissed their authority.

“She can choose to ignore them or attend, but I personally would not engage. They have no moral right to question anyone,” he said.

In his view, the only way for the NPP to move forward is a complete overhaul of the leadership. He called for an interim management committee to replace the current executives and guide the party back to its core values.

“We must return to the grassroots, identify those who truly care about the party, and restore its integrity,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe concluded. “Without this change, the NPP’s chances of winning future elections remain uncertain.”

As pressure mounts within the party, the question now is whether the NPP’s leadership will heed the calls for reform, or continue on its current path. The direction the party chooses could be pivotal to its success in future elections.
