A brewing legal storm is unfolding between former Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, and a Television Presenter of CTV, Kweku Annan.

The controversy centers on allegations made by Annan on his program, The Frontline, which Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei’s lawyers have described as “malicious, untrue, and purposely calculated” to damage her reputation.

According to the cease-and-desist letter issued by Sima Consultancy, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei’s lawyers, Kwaku Annan alleged that the former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry had been declared wanted by the Ghana Police in connection with a publication of nudes.

The letter states that Kweku Annan further claimed Asiamah-Adjei was a fugitive from justice and engaged in immoral conduct.

However, the former minister has vehemently denied all allegations, insisting that she has “never been engaged in any crime or declared wanted by any investigative body at any point in time in the entirety of her life.

“Her lawyers have accused Annan of spreading “frivolous allegations” without evidence, stating that his comments were “deliberately calculated to ruin the enviable reputation of our client.”

The letter also takes aim at Annan’s journalistic ethics, stating that “as a journalist, there are ethics to your profession that must be adhered to at all times, which include providing relevant, true and verified news reportage and coverage to your audience, as well as not spreading false information to the public, ethics you have not demonstrated in your coverage thus far.”

However, Asiamah-Adjei is demanding a public retraction and an “unqualified apology” to be aired on the same platform within 48 hours.

Failure to comply will result in legal action. Her lawyers have also warned Annan to cease and desist from making further “unwarranted, malicious and untrue publications” about Asiamah-Adjei on his TV platform or any other social media platforms.
