Members of a pro-NPP group, Young Kukrudites Movement (YKM) poured out on the streets of Accra over the weekend to broadcast the achievements of the Nana Akufo-Addo government.

The YKM volunteers joined by another NPP group, Professionals For Change carried placards with the successes of the government boldly written on them as they marched through the streets.

According to the campaigners, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s achievement in his two years stewardship as President of Ghana cannot be overemphasized.

They said the President has shown commitment to his campaign promise of cleaning the mess created by the previous John Mahama administration and saving citizens from the hardships.

“The NPP in 2016 led by then-presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made some stretching promises to transform Ghana which had all its sectors worsened under the incompetent leadership of H.E John Dramani Mahama. Ghana was characterised by gross fiscal indiscipline, corruption, hardship, high electricity bills, worsening power situation also known as “Dumsor”, total collapse of the economy with increasing interest rates, inflation resting at double digits and massive depreciation of the Cedi,” the YKM said in a statement jointly signed by its Secretary, Frank Osei Yeboah and PRO, Kwame Appenteng

“We had so much inefficiencies at our ports and other government agencies like passport office and registrar general where people spend weeks before being able to get either a passport or business registration certificates,” they added.

But following the swearing-in of President Akufo-Addo into office, the country has seen significant development in the different sectors of the economy, the YKM indicated.

They said manifesto pledges of implementing Free SHS, One District One Factory, Creation of Six Regions, Reduction and Abolition of Taxes, among others have all been fulfilled.

“True to the words of H. E Nana Akufo-Addo, Free SHS, One District One Factory, Creation of Six Regions, Reduction and Abolition of Taxes, Digital Address System, Passing of Fiscal Responsibility Act, Establishment of Zongo Development Fund, NABCO, Restoration of Training Allowances amongst others have all been delivered in a record two year period,” the group claims.

“Some solid 41 deliverables have been delivered to restore Ghana’s economic fundamentals, regain investor confidence, improve the ease of doing business and cushion the living standards of Ghanaians through the various implemented social intervention policies and programmes. There is a renewed focus on agriculture through the introduction of Planting for Food and Jobs which is intended to provide raw materials to feed the various factories under the flagship One District One Factory initiative. These achievements and others were inscribed on placards and shown to Ghanaians on the streets.”

“This government provides a clear direction and a coordinated effort aimed at totally transforming all the sectors of the economy. This is a total shift from what we experienced under the previous administration.

Ghanaians on the streets of Accra obviously in agreement with the inscriptions on the placards cheered the groups on and hailed H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his sterling leadership qualities that have changed the fortunes of the country in a short while.”
