A well-known Ghana Supporters Union member, Abraham Boakye, has announced his allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), citing the governing New Patriotic Party’s incompetence as the reason for his defection.

Mr. Boakye claimed to have helped the elephant party win the 2016 elections, but he was quick to express his displeasure with the Akufo-Addo administration’s harsh treatment of him.

At a meeting with other ardent supporters, Mr. Boakye promised to work tirelessly to ensure that the NDC wins this year’s general election convincingly.

He reiterated that all of his supporters would vote overwhelmingly for John Mahama and the NDC.

“Right, Nana Akufo-Addo is the president of the country. So I am on my knees, asking if I’ve offended the government and its officials, if I have done something wrong, and for what reason I am being treated this way.

“Recently, the Minister for Youth and Sports has transported over 2,000 Ghanaians to the Ivory Coast for the ongoing African Cup of Nations without my notice.

“So I see I am not important in my own New Patriotic Party. So I will go to places where I will be appreciated. Henceforth, I devote myself to the National Democratic Congress,” he emphasized.
