Leader of the National Liberation Congress (NLC), Stephen Atubiga, has predicted the downfall of the NPP and NDC in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

According to the expelled NDC member, the two dominant parties in Ghanaian politics will suffer the same fate as South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC) which could not secure a clear majority in the recently held polls, bringing its 30-year dominance to a near end.

Atubiga cited excessive factionalism, greed and flawed political decisions as the reasons that would cause the downfall of the NPP and NDC in December.

“The NDC, NPP, will find themselves in same position like the South African biggest political parties predicament. Due to divisions, greed, betrayal and bad decisions,” he wrote on Facebook.

Mr Atubiga, since his expulsion from the NDC for ‘anti-party behaviour’, has become critical of the party. He also served a brief jail term in 2012 for misbehaviour during the 2012 election petition hearings.
