This action by the angry residents in the East Gonja District is said to have been ignited by the naming of Damongo as the Regional capital of the new Savannah Region.

President Akufo-Addo in a short ceremony today at the Jubilee House presented a Constitutional Instrument to give effect to the Savannah Region where he announced Damongo as its capital.

The angry youth who are in favour of Salaga being the regional capital, have gone rampage in protest against the President’s choice.

They chased out the NPP Chairman and expressed disappointment in the NPP for neglecting them after they voted massively for the party in the 2016 election and produced the only Member of Parliament in the Savannah regional catchment area.
