Dr. Justice Moses Aheto

Dr. Justice Moses Aheto, a statistician and a lecturer at the University of Ghana has revealed that all the results the Electoral Commission has declared so far indicated that there is no winner.

Speaking at the “Respect My Vote Movement” public lecture at the Teacher Hall today December 15th 2020, Dr. Aheto noted that since the law requires a margin of 50 plus 1 percentage of valid votes, none of the presidential candidates from the two leading parties has attained that mark emphasizing that “All the results declared by the E.C doesn’t have a winner and none president-elect”.

However, he further said the EC must review the results with all the parties involved and re-declare the true will of the people. Meanwhile, the opposition NDC has stated categorically they’re not accepting the verdict declared by the EC citing fraud in the result coalition hence calling for a total audit of the entire results national wide.Respect My Vote lecture

To buttress his stance, Dr. Justice Aheto said totaling all that the percentage should have been based on the total valid votes cast and the valid votes attributed to all the presidential candidates, the total percentage will be:

(50.098+46.260+0.786+0.0091+0.041+0.027+0.053+0.057+0.081+0.051+0.049+0.072)%=97.67%.
This total percentage of 97.67 cannot be correct based on the total votes cast of 13,434,574 given by the chairperson of the Electoral Commission in her speech on 9th December 2020.

These results did not include Techiman South’s total voter population of 128,018.
If this figure is added is added to the total valid votes cast given by the EC chairperson as 13,434,574, the resultant total valid vote cast will be: 13,434,574+128,018 = 13,562,592.
In this case, if all the votes of Techiman South is added to John Dramani Mahama, Nana Akuffo Addo’s votes will remain the same and his percentage would be 6,730,413/13,562,592×100% = 49.625% which is less than 50%.
