Renowned journalist Dasebre Adjei Dwamena has declared that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s chances of becoming the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 elections are virtually guaranteed. He believes any attempt to bypass the former Vice President will be met with failure.
Speaking on Movement In the Morning on Wontumi Radio and Movement TV, Dwamena emphasized that the party remains firmly behind Bawumia’s leadership. He warned that those seeking to challenge or sideline him would be wasting their time and resources.
“Anybody who wants to be the flagbearer of the party but has a mind-set of stampeding Bawumia should know it won’t work. That fellow would rather leave the party like Alan Kyeremanten did,” he remarked, referencing Kyeremanten’s departure after his failed bid to lead the NPP.
He further stressed that any political figure who tries to undermine Bawumia’s chances through backdoor tactics will ultimately fail. According to him, the Vice President has solidified his place as the party’s frontrunner, making any opposition to his candidacy an uphill battle.
“You will waste your money if you want to bypass Bawumia to become the flagbearer of NPP,” he added.
With discussions about the NPP’s future leadership heating up, Dwamena’s comments reinforce the growing perception that Bawumia remains the dominant force within the party, positioning himself as the natural successor for the 2028 presidential race.
