The former New Patriotic Party, (NPP) Member of Parliament, (MP) for Agona West constituency, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, who is now contesting the seat as an independent candidate, has indicated despite the shooting incident that has led to four members of her campaign team injured, she will still win the seat.
The comes after an unknown persons fired into the independent candidate supporters during a rally on Sunday in Agona Swedru when her supporters and that of the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Chris Arthur, clash.
Cynthia Morrison said “This thing has never happened here, but I know because of my independence they want to intimidate me, but that will not work…they think I am here to spoil their votes but they don’t know I am here to win”.
she debunked allegations that her supporters fired the gun saying, “After the shooting incident, I called all the boys I work with and asked them who had a gun. They said they didn’t have one. We all attended a wedding before the program, so how could we carry a gun when going to an event like this?”.
Among the injured is the Nasara Coordinator for the constituency, Rasheed Haruna, whose currently receiving medical treatment at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, while the other three victims are at Swedru Government Hospital.
Meanwhile the police has noted that investigation is been carried out to identify the victims.
