The youth of the region are displeased with government for snubbing their petitions requesting that Nkoranza be made the capital of the Bono East Region.

The youth are putting pressure on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ensure that promises made to them in relation to the selection of the capital prior to the referendum that birthed the Bono East Region are fulfilled.

“We’ve sent petitions to the President and Dan Botwe on our choice of capital for the Bono East but we don’t see Nkoranza on the list that has come out. We suspect fraud but we want Dan Botwe and the President to know that the capital is for Nkoranzaman,” spokesperson for the demonstrating youth stressed.

The information Ministry on February 9, announced that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will from tomorrow February 12, 2019 present Constitutional Instruments to give effect to the six new regions.

The new regions created by government through the Ministry of Regional Reorganisation and Development are Oti,  Savannah, Bono East, Ahafo, Western North and North East.

Delegations made up of Chiefs and residents of the new regions have been invited to the Jubilee House in Accra for the official ceremonies, the statement disclosed.

On Tuesday, February 12, 2019  the President will present CI on North East and Savannah Regions and that on Bono East and Ahafo Regions will be done on the following day February 13, 2019.

Western North and Oti Regions CI will be presented on Friday, 15th February 2019 according to the schedule for presentations as disclosed in the statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
