Gifty Oware-Mensah, former Deputy Director of the National Service Authority (NSA) and current member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has been detained by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) in connection with a payroll fraud investigation at the NSA.
Her arrest, which occurred on March 7, 2025, follows the exposure of a ghost-name scandal that has gained national attention.
Despite efforts to secure her bail, including intervention from former NPP General Secretary John Boadu, she was transferred to an undisclosed location.
The scandal was uncovered by The Fourth Estate, prompting President John Dramani Mahama to demand swift action, resulting in multiple arrests and asset freezes for fleeing suspects. Oware-Mensah had only returned to Ghana two days prior to her detention.
