Newly Trained Teachers From CoEs to Undertake National Service

The board management of National Service Scheme has released a total of 14,956 Personal Identification Number (PIN) Codes for the newly trained teachers from the accredited Colleges of Education (CoEs) in Ghana to begin with their mandatory national service for the 2018/2019 year.

The press release which was signed by the Executive Director (AG), National Service Scheme, Hon. Mustapha Ussif on the 25th October, 2018 indicated clearly that the service is in line with the NSS Act 246 (1980) which states that ” it shall be the duty of every Ghanaian at the age of 40 and below who has completed an accredited tertiary institution to undertake one-year mandatory national service”.

This was also emphasized in section 7 of the same Act, stating that:

  1. A person who has not commenced or completed his period of national service shall not

(a) Obtain employment outside the Scheme; or

(b) Be employed by any other person outside the Scheme; or

(c) Be engaged in any employment outside the Scheme, whether self-employed or otherwise, without the prior permission, in writing, of the Board.

With regards, all the newly trained teachers are requested to visit the scheme’s website www.nss.gov.gh to access their PIN Codes with their respective index numbers, and to proceed to any branch of the Agricultural Developmental Bank Ltd’s (ADB) throughout the country to make payment of an amount of Gh40.00 and Gh 41.00 using MTN Mobile money to activate the process.

The management of National Service scheme (NSS) urges all to complete their enrollment process on or before Thursday, 16th November, 2018.
