Mr Fokuo’s new position as the MD of NIB has fueled controversy and generated a lot of criticism, particularly from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Critics queried the Bank of Ghana’s decision to approve a Parliamentary Candidate as Chief Executive (CEO) of a State bank struggling to survive in an election year.

Kodua Fokuo is the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Manso Nkwanta Constituency in the Ashanti Region. He was coronated a winner over four contenders in the party’s parliamentary primary.

In an interview on Joy FM, Mr Kodua Fokuo expressed his readiness and commitment to his work at NIB and his role as a Parliamentary Candidate.

He explained that he would not leave the office for party activities unless it was his free time to engage in party work. Adding that there would be no conflict of interest between his assigned roles,

“I do my work assiduously…I have no challenge in ensuring that the bank is run properly. There is not a single day that I have been outside the office that I am doing party work. If I will be outside the office that is my leisure time,” he said

“I don’t see any challenge. It doesn’t conflict with my official work at the bank,” he emphasized.
