Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has issued a firm warning to traders who occupy unauthorized spaces, including pavements and road medians, within the city’s Central Business District.

In a statement made after his confirmation on April 10, Mr. Boadi emphasized his commitment to bringing discipline and order to the city.

He stressed that the era of unregulated trading would come to an end and announced plans to clear traders from busy areas, particularly from roads, starting Wednesday.

He warned traders in the middle of dual carriageway roads to vacate the areas immediately or face removal.

Mr. Boadi reassured the public that the decongestion efforts would not involve military force but instead would be approached in a collaborative manner.

He aims to ensure a cleaner, more organized Kumasi, with a focus on maintaining order without unnecessary force.

In addition, Mr. Boadi addressed the public’s concerns regarding the slow progress of the Kejetia Market Phase Two project.

While acknowledging the delays, he assured that ongoing discussions would help address the issues, and he believes the market will be ready by the end of President Mahama’s tenure.
