Jemima Oware said with the increase in Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) in the country which has direct influence on the economic fortunes of the country, there was the need to implement certain reforms to improve the ease of registering new companies and doing business.

The reforms, she noted was been done through the use of modern Information Communication Technology to streamline processes and procedures which she expected to boost investment that will take the country a step closer to its Ghana Beyond Aid agenda.

Among the numerous reforms being undertaken is the interlinking of the systems of SSNIT, MMDAs, Registrar General Department and GhanaPost GPS to has seamless interaction for effective performance and service delivery.

“With the growing number of Small and Medium Enterprises in Ghana per our statistic, the ease of doing business is a major part of our economic growth hence the need for reforms to streamline the processes, procedures and regulations that can aid in promoting a business friendly environment when starting a business in Ghana and also aid in direct investment into the country from both foreign and local businesses. We believe that these new reforms that have been introduced is a dream come true which will promote the ease of doing business in Ghana and promote the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda of the Government” Jemima Oware disclosed.

“Stakeholders like SSNIT, MMDAs, Ghana Revenue Authority and GhanaPost sytems are being integrated for the different systems to talk to each other to share information seamlessly and in real time to improve the ease of doing business in Ghana” she added.

Speaking at the Meet the Press session at the Ministry of Information Conference Room in Accra, the Registrar General said with immediate effect businesses would no longer be able to register their enterprises without a GhanaPost address of their location.

This she asserted will be generated with the assistance of some staff within her outfit and the GhanaPost GPS for the meantime to get people used to the system.

Jemima Oware, however, advised prospective clients to visit the Registrar General’s website for assistance and also generate the digital address on their own before visiting the company’s branches anywhere in Ghana.

The Registrar General admitted the initiative was at a short notice but insisted, “all business cannot be registered until the digital address that is generated by Ghana Post is supplied with other data of the business to enable us to complete the business seamlessly.”

“Our staff and some staff of Ghana Post will be on hand to assist in generating the digital addresses today and possibly this week but we wish to state that this wouldn’t be the norm going forward. We are appealing to all businesses to visit the Ghana Post website at Ghanapostgps.com, download their app, position yourself wherever your location of your business is, get the digital address before visiting our offices or use our portal’s online registration to complete the process,” she stated.
