Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, a former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has passed away. He died on Saturday, May 31, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a short illness, according to party sources.

Though the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, those close to his family say he had been battling a brief illness.

Ade Coker was a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, known for his frank views and deep engagement with national issues. He served as NDC Greater Accra Chairman from 2009, winning three consecutive terms before losing his seat to Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore in 2022.

Outside politics, Ade Coker also played a notable role in sports. He served as Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), where he helped shape the direction of football governance in the country.

News of his passing has triggered a wave of tributes from political leaders, NDC members, and sports officials. Many remember him as a bold, grassroots-oriented leader with a passion for public service.
