Awake News is learning that thousands of NDC supporters are boiling up at the CID headquarters in Accra, following delay by the police in releasing National Chairman of the party.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has been in a marathon meeting Monday, with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over his alleged security threat utterances contained on a leaked tape.
The suspect is at the CID headquarters with his lawyers, numbering about seven, and they reported at 8am Monday.
The National Chairman had denied the alleged utterances on the leaked tape but to defend his innocence, he had to make an appearance at the headquarters.
Despite information that the suspect had given his written statement to his host, expecting that he would be released thereafter, Mr Ampofo is still in the ‘custody’ of the CID, whose delay in releasing their guest is making the NDC supporters livid.
Police water canons among other security equipment and heavily armed police personnel have been positioned at the frontage of the CID headquarters to ensure that nobody went rowdy.
The mammoth crowd at the headquarters has resulted in heavy vehicular traffic and the MTTD are having a torrid time to ease the congestion on the dual carriageway which is heavily congested by supporters of the NDC.
