This was stated at a press briefing addressed by the General Secretary of the party, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nietiah at the party headquarters on Monday.

He said the NPP government in its final year in office has piled more taxes on businesses and Ghanaians adding that haven pushed about 850,000 Ghanaians into poverty in 2023 due to mismanagement and uncontrolled corruption they were expected to give the suffering Ghanaians some reprieve in their final year.

According to him, although 2024 will be a difficult year filled with economic hardship due to mismanagement of the economy it will also bring hope because the non-performing NPP government is on its way out of office.

He said Ghanaians will have the opportunity to vote for experience and visionary flag bearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama as the next President of Ghana.

He added that although the incompetent NPP government will hand over an economy which is on the verge of collapsing to Mahama he expressed the hope that John Mahama will fix it.

He therefore urged Ghanaians to vote massively and convincingly for John Mahama because he is the man with the vision and the experience

The General Secretary reaffirmed the position of the former President that the next NDC government shall pay allowances to Assembly members to enhance their work.

This intervention according to him is necessary due to socioeconomic development of the country which must permeate all aspects of society including the development of local economies in districts, municipal and metropolitan areas.

He stated that the NDC is strongly opposed to the Electoral Commission’s decision not to use the indelible ink during elections adding that the indelible ink will be procured with the tax payers money and Parliament have not issued any statement of not approving the cost.

Chairman Aseidu Nketia therefore, entreated the EC not create an environment for political vimpires to exploit the country’s electoral process stressing that without indelible ink, a pliant EC official can allow a voter to vote whether or not the person is on the register at a particular polling station.

He reiterate that so long as manual verification is allowed, and so long as the integrity of the voters register remains questionable, so must indelible ink be applied to voters.
