Television Personality, Nana Aba Anamoah Rosemond has added her voice to the barrage of condemnations on the NDC Minority MPs for calling Lydia Seyram Alhassan a “Bloody widow”.
The Minority in Parliament are currently on the “chopping board” following their boycott of the swearing-in of Ms Alhassan as MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in protest against the assaults recorded during the by-election on January 31, 2019.
The shooting spree carried out by masked National Security Officers, started from the residence of the NDC candidate, Delali Kwesi Brempong and escalated to the La Bawaleshie polling centre forcing the NDC to withdraw from the election and withdrew their agents from all the other 130 polling centres.
Some electorates and observers sustained gunshot injuries with MP for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Dzata George having his fair share of the attack as he enjoyed some slaps.
The NDC who are unhappy with the situation, said they were intimidated and have, therefore, called on the EC to annul the results of the poll which has been described by the EC as “peaceful and fair”.
Wielding placards with “Bloody Widow” boldly written on them, the NDC MPs are demanding justice for victims of the violence.
They described the late MP for Ayawaso, Emmanuel Agyarko as a “Bloody widow” because according to them, she is a beneficiary of a bloodshed electoral process.
The Minority MPs have been widely criticized for their “anti-feminist” comments and for insulting the newly elected MP.
Reacting to the move, the GhOne TV presenter expressed her disappointment in the Minority.
She tweeted, “Someone sat down in the middle of the night, racked his/her brain and came up with BLOODY WIDOW? And the Minority caucus thought ‘Oh, what a genius!’ oh Lord. NDC MPs no try for this one.”
