Kwasi Pratt says former President John Mahama’s ‘boot for boot’ statement to the government is an indication that the party cannot be Jesus Christ.
He said in a country where violence and thuggery have become the trade of persons in leadership, nobody should expect the angry defenceless citizen to retreat if the latter is attacked first.
“That’s all former President Mahama sought to tell the government that, if you attack us first, we will react in an equal measure. Why must people find fault in what the former President said?” Kwasi Pratt, Managing Editor of Insight newspaper, posed on an Accra-based radio station on Saturday.
Mr Pratt expressed fear that the government’s refusal to boldly disband its vigilante groups, which is evident of its position when in opposition that it did not trust the police to provide its members with quality security, is fast brewing tension as the country journeys into the 2020 general elections.
He warned that if the government and the security agencies are not bold to disband any form of vigilante groups in the country, Ghana might be thrown in flames, making reference to how vigilantes murdered over 100,000 innocent citizens daily in the unfortunate Rwanda genocide.
