The National Leadership of the Volta Caucus of the opposition National Democratic Congress – NDC has joined many political, individuals and professional bodies to congratulate Prof. Naana Jean Opoku-Agyemang on her nomination as the running mate of the NDC Flagbearer, John Mahama for the December 2020 elections.
In a statement signed by the National Chairperson and copied Awake News, Mrs. Dzifa Attivor whiles congratulating Prof. Jean Opoku-Agyemang said “The NDC has remained a mass party, with a broad base support, especially amongst women across the country. It is therefore significant that our Flagbearer has settled on you, Professor Naana Opoku Agyeman.”
“It will be recalled that under the government of Professor JEA Mills, when our current Flagbearer was the Vice President, we had the very first female Speaker of Parliament, Madam Joyce Bamford Addo.” – She added
According to Mrs. Attivor, the choice of Prof. Opoku-Agymang, a woman as the Vice Presidential Candidate for the largest opposition party “is a great victory for the over 51 percent of the women of all walks of life, in Ghana.”
Many Ghanaians have hailed the choice of the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast as the ruining mate for the NDC which they believe will help the party come back to power.
