The campaign team of the Vice Presidential aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, has refuted reports that their candidate was abandoned by supporters of the party during her visit to the Winneba market.
The report, published by the DailyGuide Network on August 5, 2024, claimed that the market women who had gathered to meet the former Minister of Education allegedly left to join the campaign activities of the Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who was touring the area at the same time.
In a press statement copied to Awake News, the NDC described the publication as “false, baseless and a figment of the fertile imagination of its author.”
They continued “For the records, Prof. Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Friday [August 2] had a very successful campaign tour of Winneba in the Effutu constituency. She visited market women in their shops and stalls at the Winneba market, and interacted with shoppers and lorry drivers, amongst others, amidst cheers and encouragement from the public.”
“At no point was the Member of Parliament for Effutu present at the same place and time that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was at the Winneba market,” the statement indicated.
The party further urged Ghanaians to be aware of fake news as the country prepares to go to the polls on December 7.
