The National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has terminated the appointment of its Manager for the Takoradi Zonal Office, Richard Takyi-Mensah, with immediate effect.
Takyi-Mensah is the Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party and his dismissal may not be unconnected with his political affiliation.
The decision, which was communicated in a letter dated February 17, 2025, cited the termination clause in Mr. Takyi-Mensah’s offer of employment dated July 26, 2023.
According to the letter, signed by the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Chris Boadi-Mensah, the termination of Mr. Takyi-Mensah’s appointment was made in accordance with the terms of his employment contract.
The contract stipulated that either party could terminate the employment relationship at any time after confirmation by giving one month’s notice in writing or payment of a month’s salary instead of notice.
Instead of the required notice period, Mr. Takyi-Mensah will receive one month’s salary, which will be processed and paid to him.
The letter also requested that Mr. Takyi-Mensah return all NPRA property in his possession to the Assistant Manager, Corporate Affairs, before his departure.
The NPRA has expressed appreciation for Mr. Takyi-Mensah’s contribution during his time with the authority and wished him the best in his future endeavors.
The reasons behind the termination of Mr. Takyi-Mensah’s appointment were not disclosed in the letter.
The development has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Mr. Takyi-Mensah’s termination.
