NAPO extends helping hand to adum fire victims

In a heartfelt display of solidarity, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections, has donated GH₵50,000 and 500 bags of cement to the victims of the devastating Adum Bluelight fire incident.

This generous gesture is aimed at supporting the traders in their efforts to rebuild the market, which was ravaged by a fire on Friday, March 21, 2025.

During his visit to the site, Dr. Prempeh commiserated with the victims and assured them of his unwavering support in their endeavors to restore the market. He emphasized the importance of unity among the traders, stating,

“I know Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the regional minister, Kennedy Agyapong, and others have visited you. Even President Mahama and some other executives from the NPP came here to visit you as well. So, if I don’t make my way here, it will not be fair to you.”

Dr. Prempeh also shared a poignant personal anecdote, highlighting the impact of the fire on the community.

“I believe that the woes of your brother are your woes as well. I have been affected personally by the fire outbreak. It is only when you get affected that you can be able to testify how painful it is. I pray the good God comfort you and bring you back on your feet.”

In addition to his donation, Dr. Prempeh pledged an additional GH₵100,000 from the Manhyia South MP’s Common Fund to aid the reconstruction efforts.

NAPO’s commitment to people-centered politics was evident in his statement,

“Those of us who have taken upon ourselves to do politics must know that we use people to build a nation, not money”.

In a separate gesture, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, donated 100 bags of cement to the fire victims, further demonstrating the community’s solidarity with the affected traders.
