The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has urged the government to implement proactive measures to prevent future fire outbreaks at markets like Adum. His comments came after visiting the site of the devastating fire that destroyed the market on April 2, 2025.
In a post shared on social media, Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed his sympathy for the victims, describing the loss as deeply heartbreaking. He encouraged the traders to remain hopeful, reassuring them that, in God’s mercy, everything lost would eventually be restored.
“I visited my dear mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters who tragically lost their livelihoods in the recent fire outbreak at Adum PZ, Kumasi. Whilst the pain of such a calamity is deeply heartbreaking, I encouraged them to have faith in God, who, in His infinite mercy, shall restore and replenish all that has been lost,” he said.
The NPP politician also appealed to the government to take proactive steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. He emphasized the importance of fairness and compassion in assisting the victims, ensuring they receive justice and the support they need during this difficult time.
