Former Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo has stated that the Nana Akufo Addo led government has moved from ethical taxation to daylight robbery.
According to the former Auditor, majority of the current government financial decisions has only taken more money from citizens.
He says,“This is a government that has moved from taxation to robbery, adding that government policies are only tailored towards “picking from people’s pockets.”
This was in a reaction to the outrage on the excruciating numerous taxes imposed on citizens, business men and women and companies by the Nana Addo government.
Domelevo pointed out that the misuse of public funds, lack of accountability and unfulfilled promises by government has deepen the woes of citizens.
“Look at the Auditor General’s report. It seems it doesn’t ring a bell in the ears of government at all.
“We are told about millions spent on projects that we have nothing to show for. It’s no longer a question of taxation; it’s clear exploitation.
“It’s as if even when our money is in our pocket, the government is reaching in to take it,” he stated, drawing attention to how neglected fiscal responsibility has aggravated public distrust.
“We must look at these institutions and ask their leaders if they are not ashamed.
“At this point, the misuse of resources feels like a betrayal to the people who fund them” Domelevo told joynews.
