The Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, Millicent Amankwah, has promised that the perpetrators behind the murder of Asante Kotoko fan Yaw Francis, popularly known as Nana Pooley, will be arrested and dealt with.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Yaw Francis, also known as Pooley, a devoted Asante Kotoko supporter, during the match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre, within my constituency, on Sunday, February 2, 2025. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire football community”.
She reiterated that the tragic death of the young football fan is a stain on the football fraternity. The Law Marker sympathized with the family of the briefed while assuring that, along with the Bono Regional Minister and security forces, the cilprits will be held accountable.
“As the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, I strongly condemn the violence that led to this unfortunate incident. I will work closely with the Bono Regional Minister and security forces to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” she said on her Facebook wall.
Pooley was reportedly stabbed five times in a scuffle that broke out during the match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC on match day 19 of the Ghana Premier League.
