The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has launched the National Heritage Photo Competition 2025.
The contest aims to celebrate Ghana’s cultural wealth through photography.
This nationwide competition invites entries from all 16 regions. It targets young creatives, offering them a platform to showcase their talent.
According to Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the initiative promotes both culture and creativity. Moreover, it encourages national pride by bringing attention to Ghana’s diverse heritage and tourism sites.
“We are not only promoting our rich cultural heritage,” she said, “but also creating opportunities for young Ghanaians to display their creativity.”
To qualify, participants must be 25 years or younger. Additionally, entries may include photos of heritage sites, traditional clothing, food, or other cultural expressions.
Importantly, the competition forms part of efforts to boost tourism and encourage cultural exchange. It is being organized in collaboration with UNESCO.
Furthermore, several institutions are supporting the initiative. These include the Ghana Tourism Authority, National Folklore Board, National Commission for Culture, and the Bureau of Ghana Languages.
Other partners are the National Theatre of Ghana, the National Film Authority, Ghana Tourism Development Authority, and Pan African Writers Association. The list also includes the Hotel Catering and Tourism Training Institute, Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Creative Arts Agency, and the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre.
Interested participants should email their entries to heritagesites@motac.gov.gh no later than Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
