Ghana-based media network and publishers of www.fnnewsonline.com, FN Network, has shortlisted Men’s Health Foundation Ghana; the national peak body of prostate cancer and men’s charity working with men affected by prostate cancer for the first edition of its newly launched FN Business Awards, 2017.
FN Business Awards is an annual awards ceremony instituted to [ads1]honour and celebrates growing Ghanaian businesses, start-ups, SMEs, and individuals making meaningful impacts on society.
Men’s Health Foundation under the auspices of Dr. Raphael Nyarkotey Obu, a prostate cancer advocate and researcher has done extensive work in raising awareness, and the screening of prostate cancer in Ghana. The charity pushed for the declaration of Father’s Day as national prostate cancer day in Ghana. The charity has screened over 100, 000 men in Ghana and Nigeria for prostate health. The charity is currently the only men’s charity in the country working to improve the health needs of men. The charity based in Dodowa has done several national policies on prostate cancer and ultimately bringing the disease to the doorsteps of political leadership. The charity was instrumental in helping Nigeria to launch the men’s health version at Ikeja, Lagos.
The president of the Men’s Health Foundation, Ghana was recently honored with the Nigeria Legend Award in Lagos and appointed the first National president of the Alternative Medical Association of Ghana (AMAG). He has in the past called for the creation of a Traditional and alternative medicine Ministry. He has published numerous papers and articles on prostate cancer and is a columnist for the Chronicle newspaper in Ghana, and a frequent speaker on the subject of prostate cancer on radio, TV, churches, tertiary institutions.
He recently won the Young Health Research Personality of the Year Award held at the British Council by the Health Legend Foundation Africa, 2017 nominee for forty under 40 Ghana. His school; Sheffield Hallam University, UK alumni recently wrote on his work on prostate cancer on their alumni Face book page. He studied the Master’s program in Prostate cancer care organized by the school and Prostate cancer UK. He is a Member of the Prostate Cancer Transatlantic Consortium (CaPTC), a firm researching into prostate cancer in black men in West Africa.
Dr. Nyarkotey is currently a faculty member at Da Vinci College of Holistic Medicine. He is a cofounder of the RNG Medicine Research Lab; the first Research Lab for alternative medicine in Ghana. He is also the Medical Director of RNG Holistic Hospital and Prostate Research Lab at Tema Community 18.
He is currently, the only Holistic Medical Practitioner in Ghana who has specialized and conducted extensive research into Naturopathic and holistic Urology.
