Reports indicate that a group of individuals dressed in military and police uniforms raided the home of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, on Tuesday afternoon in Cantonments.
It is said that Mr. Ofori-Atta is currently in the United States receiving medical treatment, but his wife and other family members were present during the raid.
Eyewitnesses reported that the group consisted of around 12 individuals: five wearing military uniforms, one in police attire, and the rest in civilian clothing.
Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, a former government spokesperson for Administration and Security, confirmed the raid in a post on X, stating that his investigation supported the claims.
He condemned the act, emphasizing that former public officials had served the nation with integrity and questioning who permitted such actions.
“Must we be scared and worried that after serving diligently the people of Ghana, one is not safe even in their home and country of birth?” he asked.
“I hope and pray that the media, civil society organizations, the diplomatic community, and ECOWAS are watching Ghana,” he added.
Is our democracy under siege? I write from the position of a Ghanaian, who truly believes in the tenets of democracy, rule of law and respect for people’s privacy.
