Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has showered praises on former President John Dramani Mahama for his achievements during his time in office, despite facing significant challenges.
Weighing in on the recent debate over who is the better leader between the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President Nana Akufo-Addo, Mr. Cudjoe argued that a leader who can rise above critical challenges is deserving of praise.
In a Facebook post, the founder of IMANI Ghana said “those saying this election will be about comparing track records are right.”
He added that, it would be wise “to compare 2008- 2016 and 2016- 2020- 2024. Remember JM had no ‘peace’ for almost a year and half, fighting off an election petition while the gains made by 2011 stood challenged partially by the petition and later by slump in global prices for our traditional exports and the very wasteful expenditure on public sector wages as a result of the highly unfair and rigged single spine salary scheme.”
In explaining why he believes Mr. Mahama is a better leader, Mr. Cudjoe said, “you do the rest of the comparison along Inflation, interest rates, Forex exchange rates, debt, critical infrastructure and general corruption and your verdict would be that JM stood and stands taller”.
He expressed the opinion that every institution or country needs a leader who can turn things around despite challenges and further disclosed that he would consider running for the presidency in the future, saying, “I think I will run one day.”
