Liverpool FC has completed the signing of Dutch defender Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million (€35 million) on a five-year contract.
The Jeremie Frimpong Liverpool transfer comes just hours after the club announced Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid, setting up Frimpong as his direct replacement.
Frimpong, 24, is known for his explosive pace, attacking flair, and defensive discipline. The former Manchester City academy graduate played a crucial role in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic 2023/24 Bundesliga title win and featured in 53 games across all competitions in the 2024/25 season, helping the team finish second.
He will compete for the Liverpool right-back spot with Conor Bradley, who recently signed a four-year contract extension.
Frimpong’s Career Path:
- Youth Career: Manchester City
- Professional Debut: Celtic, 2019
- Leverkusen Move: January 2021
- Bundesliga Champion: 2023/24
Frimpong now joins a growing Dutch presence at Anfield, linking up with Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch under manager Arne Slot.
