The 2020 running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, paid a visit to some EC voter registration centers in the Western Region.
Prof. Agyemang was in the Western Region to monitor the registration process so as to feed herself information on the exercise to ascertain and address some of the challenges the registration applicants are going through.
Prof. Agyemang started her tour from Wassa East, through Shama, Essikado/Ketan, Sekondi, Effia, and Kwesimintsim, and ended in Takoradi on a safe monitoring trip.
At the various centers, she took time to have interaction with the Electoral Commission officials, registrants, constituency branch executives, and other party sympathizers on how the registration was going.
Prof. Agyemang’s monitoring trip of the registration exercise revealed a peaceful process at the various centers. The EC officials explained that a lot of registrants had thronged the registration centers because it is the tail end of the exercise, but they were optimistic that they would get all registered following the directive of the EC chair.
In her interaction with registrants, Prof. Naana Jane explained the essence of getting their voter identification cards and the impact it can have on their lives aside from using them for registration.
She admonished them to vote wisely come December 7, 2024, taking into consideration their standard of living and the untold economic hardship birthed by this current government.
She expressed her profound appreciation to the Electoral Commission officials and the constituency branch executives for working tirelessly throughout the exercise.
She also thanked the registrants for taking time out of their busy schedules to partake in the registration exercise to get registered so they could exercise their civic rights.
Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was accompanied by Nana Toku (Western Regional Chairman) and his Regional Executives and Constituency Executives to tour all the centers for smooth exercise.
