The Lewisville City Council Place 1 election which took place yesterday has gone into a run-off with Ms. Wright securing 537 votes representing 29.73% of the total vote cast and her major contender Bob Troyer topping the first round race with 767 votes representing 42.74% of the total vote cast.

In a statement, Carolyn Wright, is hopeful to secure the seat come June 27 which is set for the run-off.

Ms Wright, however, bemoans the low voter turnout recorded at the just-ended polls describing it as pathetic.

“Locally, the turnout at the polls has been pathetic.”

“We all have a responsibility to engage with the electorate – not simply out of self-interest or party political advantage, whether it be through a proposition, the ballot box, or other means.” – she added

She noted that candidates must make all efforts to listen and receive other’s views as no one has a monopoly over the truth.

“As a candidate I look forward to Promoting democratic involvement – It is clear that nobody has a monopoly on truth, and we won’t always agree on everything, but we must be open to listen and receive other’s points of view. ”

“People are our greatest asset and as councilwoman, I will work to promote and create involvement and new opportunities for communities at large.” – She noted

[ads1]As you may be aware I am a candidate for Lewisville City Council Place 1. After yesterday’s polls resulted in a runoff election I am pleased to announce that I am still in it to win it! Run-off Election will be held on June 27.

May I first thank God the citizens who cast their votes and expressed a desire for me to be the next representative for Lewisville City Council Place 1. To my amazing #TeamElectWright and supporters I am eternally grateful. I never could’ve made it without you! In particular, Eric and Amanda Roak, Ray Bowens, Rozalyn Terrell, Phu Tran, Doris Scales, Daniel Campos, Yvonda Coleman, Amalia Hoy, Rosalyn Parker, Deborah McEleroy, Dynal Jones, and Dorothy Graves. Thanks to Westside Greater Works Church and Relevant Life Church. Also, I am grateful for the encouragement and advice of professional friends and colleagues. Finally, I would like to thank my family for the excellent support they have given me and I know that will continue over the course of the next weeks, months, and life-time, and I thank them in advance for their support.

In my pursuit as council woman I am ready for this challenge!

I’m incredible conscious of the duties and tasks set before me in the upcoming weeks and month. It’s with great excitement that I look ahead to working hard to achieve my mission to become the next representative of Lewisville City Council Place 1.

In looking ahead as a candidate, it is humbling, but wonderfully warm to encounter so many community leaders and citizens, from all backgrounds and cultural. It has increased my desire to build relationships and leverage partnerships with the City. I believe that togetherness between Citizens and the City is of great civic and community value to all our citizens, and will enhance and make Lewisville a more vibrant and exciting City. I look forward to the opportunity to promote and enhance the civic life of our City, and to uphold the dignity of the office as Councilwoman.

Locally, the turnout at the polls has been pathetic. We all have a responsibility to engage with the electorate – not simply out of self-interest or party political advantage, whether it be through a proposition, the ballot box or other means. As a candidate I look forward to Promoting democratic involvement – It is clear that nobody has a monopoly on truth, and we won’t always agree on everything, but we must be open to listen and receive other’s point of view. People are our greatest asset and as councilwoman, I will work to promote and create involvement and new opportunities for communities at large.

This is truly a new era for local government in Lewisville, Texas. I am a new councilwoman for a new era, creating a fresh environment for all of the people in our city. So I ask: Will each of you please join with me to #LetsGetWrightElected!
