A fourth year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been found dead on campus in a mysterious circumstances.
The female student has been identified as Miss Joana Deladem Yabani.
According to eyewitnesses, the lifeless body of Joana was discovered near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre on February 27, 2025.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the university community, prompting concerns about student safety and well-being.
The university’s security was immediately alerted, and the body was transported to the University Health Services, where she was confirmed dead.
The KNUST Management has issued a statement expressing its deep regret over the incident and extending condolences to the family of the deceased.
The university has also assured that a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Miss Yabani’s death.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our student, and we are committed to getting to the bottom of this incident,” said Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar of KNUST.
“We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist us in our investigation.”
The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and other relevant authorities.
The university has also promised to provide counseling services to students and staff who may be affected by this incident.
The KNUST Students’ Parliament has also released a statement condemning the incident and calling for calm.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, and we urge everyone to remain calm and allow the investigation to unfold,” said the statement.
