Asante Kotoko Football Club head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has disclosed to his players that they have no option but to win now to satisfy the late Pooley.

Pooley was a die-hard Porcupine Warrior who was always with the club but was suddenly killed in Nsoatre during the club’s visit to Nsoatreman to honour week 19 of the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League.

Top-flight football was halted for a while as clubs were not even training because of poor administration of the game.

Clubs have resumed training, and Asante Kotoko’s coach, ahead of their first training session, told the players to fight for Pooley.

“Now we need to honour him (Francis Yaw Frimpong), we need to dedicate whatever we do to honour him. I’m sure we are ready to honour him,” Prosper said.

“It will be difficult to forget what happened. It will be difficult. But then the only way to honour him is to make sure we train well to win games to make his soul happy. Let’s all come together and make sure that we work very hard to get the results. That’s the most important thing,” the head coach said.

Asante Kotoko was supposed to return to action in the MTN FA Cup Round 16 against Sekondi Eleven Wonders F.C at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi over the week, but the game has been postponed with the club stated that they are not ready for the weekend action.

A new date will be communicated to the fans after an agreement is reached between the club, Eleven Wonders, the Ghana Football Association, and the MTN FA Cup Committee.
