In a grand style, the National Democratic Congress is set to climax its historic Unity Walk in AFLAO – the world bank of the NDC in the Volta Region.
The interest in making the walk in Aflao one of the largest political walk ever held in the country is gathering momentum as days go by.
[ads1]In an interview with Awake News, Hon. Kojo Bonsu said the purpose of the walk is not a fun fare as purported by some people. He was quick to add that the unity walk is however not a panacea for solving the entire challenges of the party but just to consolidate the efforts of the Kwesi Botchwey Committee’s recommendation for all to join hands in their own small ways to unite the party for a victorious 2020.
The former Kumasi Mayor used the opportunity to thank all Ghanaians especially members of the NDC for accepting the concept of the walk and making it one of the best political activity to help energize the party after their defeat in the 2016 elections.
“I, and on behalf of my partner, Hon. Joshua Akamba, we wish to use this opportunity to thanks the people of Ghana and the entire members of the NDC for accepting and supporting the Unity Walk Concept” – He said
“Though we will be sending invites to all presidential aspirants to participate, we wish to use this medium to remind and invite them all in our bid to maintain a united front towards 2020” – He added
Mr. Bonsu has revealed that the walk has really achieved its purpose of energizing the grassroots while they continue efforts to reorganize and make the party attractive in their various ways while the party prepares for the battle in 2020.
He, therefore, called on all NDC faithfuls to join the mother of all walks in Aflao of the 9th of June 2018 to climax the unity walk. He said Volta Region is a significant place to climax the walk because that is where the person whose idea gave birth to the NDC hails from, former President Rawlings, the founder of the party. According to him, NDC will forever be grateful to Volta Region for always supporting the party even in difficult moments.
Kojo Bonsu calls for all ranks and file of the party to come together for the Historic climax of the well-patronized walk in Aflao the home Region of the NDC to show the world that despite their challenges as a party, they are poised to work together as a family for a victorious 2020.
The Background:
The Unity Walk is an idea which was started by Hon. Kojo Bonsu and his partner, Joshua Akamba to energize the grassroot of the party after their painful defeat in the 2016 elections.
The first walk was held in the Northern Region, Tamale on the 9th of September 2017 which received massive support from the party faithful, rotated in other eight Regions and expected to be climaxed in the Volta Region on June 9, 2018.
Despite the concerns of some members of the NDC who said the walk was designed to project the comeback of John Mahama, the walk continued to receive massive support from the NDC members across the regions it was organized.
The grand walk is scheduled for 9th June 2018 in Aflao – the world bank of the NDC.
Expected personalities include the Former President John Dramani Mahama; the party National Chairman, Hon Portophy; the General Secretary; party officials and former appointees and more especially all party members and sympathizers.
