Kwabena Boateng, the Member of Parliament-elect for the Ejisu constituency, has made a clarion call to the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reconcile. He said all aggrieved members must be brought back to the fold to prepare and deliver victory for the party in the 2024 general elections.
According to Kwabena Boateng, he will work assiduously to ensure that all disgruntled party members in his constituency are united and brought back to the NPP.
“That is the work for us to do, some of these things are typical of party democracies. After elections, whether it is internal or at the national level against other political parties, these things do happen, especially with internal elections. They do happen.” he explained.
“The task is for us to go down and talk to our people. They are our people; I do but not think that the party is minded or that I the MP-elect will neglect anybody. Not at all,” he disclosed in his victory speech.
“Political parties are built with multitudes, you need the people. So, my task is to go down there and be with my people, listen to them and whatever constitutes the disagreements, my job is to make sure that we jaw-jaw and find a common ground that will benefit the party,” he stressed.
Mr. Kwabena Boateng emerged as the winner in the Ejisu by-election, beating his closest contender Kwabena Owusu Aduomi to the seat vacated due to the demise of John Kumah.
Kwabena Boateng polled 27,782 votes, representing 55.8% of the total votes cast. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former MP who stood as an Independent Candidate obtained 21,534 votes, amounting to 43.3% of the total valid votes cast.
