Answering questions on how to improve upon voter turn out for the 2020 elections, the former Transport Minister suggested the NDC must inaugurate Chapters across the boarders of Togo, Benin, Nigeria et all, in order to enable Ghanaians in those countries to vote in the next elections.
According to Madam Dzifa Aku Attivor, since political parties here in [ads1]Ghana have chapters in the diaspora; United Kingdom, Canada, United States, such initiatives must be replicated across the borders to bring Ghanaians in those countries home to participate in our electoral processes.
“You know we have a lot of our people in Togo, Benin, Nigeria, why do we go as far as UK, Canada and the US, to inaugurate Chapters, whilst we ignore Ghanaians in these countries”.
“My husband is from Aflao and part of his families live in Togo. When you go to Adidogorme, a lot of them are there. They are not Togolese, they just walk across. They’re Ghanaians who have found business ventures, farming and others in Togo. They come for weekend activities here, so there is no way we should shy them away”.
Madam Dzifa Attivor, who is contesting for the Volta Regional Chairperson position of the NDC, added further that, her main focus is to get the data base of these people in order to inaugurate the chapters in collaboration with the National Executives.
“We have to go back and identify these people, I already know them anyway. So that when there is election, nobody will shy away from voting, just like people travel from the United Kingdom, United State, Canada to come and vote. But we need to develop conscious programs for them, so that any program we are doing in the Volta region they can participate. We can also join them across the boarders for their programs.”
