Law Student Union Presidents to storm parliament over new Legal Education LI

The Association of Law Students’ Union Presidents, the Concerned LLB holders of Ghana and some notable personalities in the Legal Profession and Civil Society are expected to storm Parliament today over their petition for parliament to annul the currently Legal Education Regional LI summited by the General Legal Council.

[ads1]Speaking to Awake News, Mr. Noah E Tetteh, President of Association of Law Students Presidents who also doubles as President of KNUST Law Students Union said their decision to walk to parliament is based on their earlier petition submitted to Parliament and the President of Ghana to consider withdrawing the current Legal Instrument summited by the General Legal Council.

According to him, the LI is unconstitutional and betrays the Supreme Court decision in the matters of Prof. Asare vs. General Legal Council.

He also reveals that the Association will be joined by personalities including Mr Kofi Bentil of IMANI Ghana and OccupyGhana, Prof. Kwasi Prempeh of Executive Director of CDD, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe of Imani Ghana to will hold a press briefing today, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 at 10am at the International Press Center in Accra.

“The meet the press will precede an urgent meeting in Parliament over the petition by the Association of law students’ Presidents to Parliament and the President of the Republic in relation to the Legal Profession (Professional and Post-Call Law Course) Regulations 2017 currently laid before Parliament, which the Group is calling for it to be annulled”
