A student journalist and a fast rising sensational model, Laura Mills has been appointed Human Rights Ambassador for Youth for Human Rights Africa (YoHRA).

Laura Mills who is also the Founder and Executive Director of The Laura Mills Initiatives was appointed together with 29 other personalities from across sectors in Ghana.

[ads1]The continental organization – Youth for Human Rights Africa headquartered in Ghana, at its first YoHRA Human Rights Ambassadors’ meeting in Accra held on August 8, 2017 tasked the ambassadors to represent the voice of the rights of people anywhere they find themselves as they lead advocacy agenda across Africa.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Francis-Xavier Sosu, President of YoHRA, said,”Africans must note that protecting fundamental human rights and freedoms of persons are mandatory and must not be traded in any form”

The celebrated human rights activist told the ambasswords that the mission of YoHRA and its ambassadors “is to serve as a medium to promote and advocate the observance of Foundational Human Rights by the use of National, Regional, African and United Nations Human Rights Instruments”

Speaking to awake TV’s Korsi Senyo, Ms. Laura Mills said she sees her new role as Human Rights Ambassador as an opportunity to help project the right of the vulnerable.

Ms. Mills hinted that is first looking at how she can help protect the rights of women under the Trokoshi system in the Volta Region of Ghana.
