The Deputy Greater Accra Regional Youth organizer of NDC, Amos Blessing Amorse, has sated that president Nana Akuffo Addo’s last night covid-19 address ” was a purely an exhibition of his usual vindictive, intolerable and brazen show of political power pushed behind the smokescreen of fighting Covid19″.

The recent relentless critique of president Akufo Addo explianed on his Facebook wall that the president’s address last night had nothing to do with curbing the spread of the deadly virus as his aficionados want us to believe. Adding that “in fact it does not come close to what other serious Presidents in other countries are doing to halt the spread of the virus. What the President did last night was purely an exhibition of his usual vindictive, intolerable and brazen show of political power pushed behind the smokescreen of fighting Covid19″.

He stressed ” as I predicted in an earlier post before his address that the President was incensed by the counter funeral annouced by the Anlo Traditional Council and would definitely show them where power lies by banning social gathering, Mr Akufo Addo did nothing short of that. The address, at best, was an Anlo Traditional Council address. The illogicalities inherent in his speech clearly support this assertion”.

The NDC’s Youth Organiser questioned why weddings that comsumes less time are banned and church service, market place are rather allowed to operate. He noted that ” take for instance, a wedding which is a one off thing less than 10 hours has been banned outrightly while our markets which are overly congested are allowed to operate. Which right thinking person will do this? What’s the difference between church service and wedding ceremony that church service can take place while wedding is banned? When you consider the ban on mass funeral and the 25 people requirement, then you are more convinced how unthinking these group of people have become”.

He further noted that, if former president Rawlings was from the Akyem Abuakwa area the president wouldn’t have impose restrictions on feneral ” you think Akufo Addo will ban funeral if Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council had annouced an impending funeral? Never! This explained exactly why when he first announced restrictions on social gathering, his kingsmen disregarded it and went ahead to mass up without mask under heavy police protection to install a new chief in Akuapem on May 1, 2020 without anybody doing anything to them”.

He concluded by stating that “the Anlo Traditional Council should disregard this vindictive directive and go ahead with their planned funeral for Akufo Addo to send the police after them for the whole world to see! If the Akuapems can do it, why not the Anlos?
