Over 50 acres of Cocoa plantation belonging to the President of World Cocoa Farmers Association, Mr. Abraham Adusei at Kyebi in the Eastern Region is under threat as government of Ghana has given out the over 4000 acres of land in the area for small scale mining.

A member of Parliament for Kintampo North and a raking member of the Agric Committee of Parliament, Kwasi Etu-Bonde has questioned government’s decision to grant mining concession at cocoa farming areas which he described as unfortunate.

According him in the visit to the farm of the Mr. Adusei, it shocking to know that the agriculture lands in President Akufo-Addo’s hometown -Kyebi should be given out for mining instead of government promoting the Global Cocoa Farms’ president’s farm in the area as a tourist attraction for the world and the youth to come and learn.
The MP was accompanied by the President of Concerned Farmer at Kyebi, Nana Boateng Obuadie who also raised a red flag on the government decision sending a strong message to President Akufo-Addo that they [the farmers] voted for him not to come and impose his will and wish on them but to do what they think will add value to their lives.

For him, government must immediately revoke the license for the small scale miners in the cocoa farming areas.
