Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says anybody who partook in Tuesday’s ‘kum yen preko’ demonstration only spends time to express their own situations in life.

Based on that, he said the hue and cry of the street demonstrators was not the representation of the general Ghanaian, majority of whom are lauding the NPP government for its economic policies.

Nana Obiri-Yeboah, who corroborated his stance that demonstrators only wanted to exercise their bodies, failed to, in the first place, present a petition to anybody in government.

Besides, that there is hardship in the country beats the imagination of the well-meaning Ghanaians who are largely enjoying some of the government’s programmes including the free SHS, planting for food and jobs and NABCO.

Speaking on a local language Accra-based private radio station Wednesday, Nana Obiri-Boahen, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, said the demonstration was sponsored by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), whose party members are not grateful for the resounding economic path Ghana is charting under the NPP.

The ‘kum yen preko’ demonstration was organised by the Coalition for Social Justice, a pressure group that includes opposition political parties, transporters, traders and aggrieved workers who had lost their jobs in the last two years.

However, the NPP and government’s Deputy Information Minister Pius Enam Hadidze, said the NDC bussed people from various towns to converge in Accra to pour onto the streets “to go on a keep fit.”

Nana Obiri-Boahen said the objective minded-person who is aware that the government has been in constant communication with the electorate on the state of the nation and are happy with the path the government is charting, would not sit in NDC offices and hide behind fake journalists to create the impression that Ghana is in a bad state.

“If after this government has rolled out flagship programmes to make one self-sufficient and the NDC would bus demonstrators to the ground to keep fit to trumpet their laziness instead of working to better their lives, they should not think Ghana is Accra.

“I want to assure the NDC that the NPP and Nana Addo will beat John Mahama and the NDC in 2020,” he concluded.
