Krachi West District Assembly supports PWDs with industrial machines and other items

The District Chief Executive for the Krachi West District Assembly in the Oti region, Mr. Douglas Nti Osei, has presented industrial machines and start-up kits worth Ghc 180,000 to 50 Persons With Disability (PWDs) in the district.

The items have funding from a 3% disability fund component in the District Assembly Common Fund, meant to support them.

The items include industrial sewing machines, deep freezers, fridges, wheelchairs, milling machines, desktop computers, laptops and cash, among others.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Douglas Nti, reiterated government’s total commitment towards making life comfortable for persons with a disability, by providing adequate logistics and financial support.

According to him, the initiative is meant to empower PWDs and make them financially independent, in order to mitigate the high tendency of dependency on families.

He urged the general public and organizations, to commit themselves to support PWDs in their societies.

“The Assembly will continue to support PWDs as the President’s aim at equipping them with the requisite skills and training, as well as financial support in order to reduce their dependency on families”, he said.

Krachiwura Nana Mprah Besemuna, commended government for it’s achievements and most importantly, the support for PWDs and urged them to do more to improve their living standards.

He advised the beneficiaries to put the items to good use to maximize some gains towards the full realization of the purpose of the initiative.
