Samuel Koku Anyidoho, a former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed his approval of a recent directive from the Office of the President.
The directive, issued on April 2, 2025, suspends the grant of post-retirement contract appointments to retired public service staff with immediate effect.
The announcement, signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, emphasized that all requests for such appointments will no longer be considered.
The directive aims to address concerns over fairness and discrimination in favor of individuals who have already reached the pinnacle of their professional careers.
Reacting to the directive, Anyidoho, who is suspended from the party years ago over alleged anti-party behavior, praised the decision.
He highlighted that this policy aligns with efforts championed by the MILLS Institute, an organization he is affiliated with.
“Excellent! This is a policy I have, in conjunction with MILLS Institute, championed for its scrapping bcos it is NOT fair & discriminatory in favour of people who have already hit the zenith of their profession. I am elated & MILLS Institute says, congratulations. Ghana first,” he posted on X.
The former NDC bigwig’s reaction marks a rare instance of him offering praise to President Mahama as he’s known for his harsh criticism of Mahama when he was an opposition leader.
