Ghanaian rapper Kojo Cue has revealed that he stepped away from the music scene primarily due to mental health struggles and personal challenges.
In a candid interview with Zionfelix on April 16, 2025, the rapper shared that he quit music in 2021, at a time when he was thriving alongside fellow artists like E.L., Joey B, and Lil Shaker. Despite his rising career, internal battles forced him to put his music on hold.
“From the end of 2021, I stopped making music completely. I even gave away my studio equipment,” he said. “Some personal issues from 2020 didn’t resolve the way I had hoped. My mind and focus just weren’t on music anymore.”
Kojo Cue explained that mental health was the major reason behind his decision. The emotional toll led him to withdraw not only from music but also from social media for several months.
“For about six or seven months, I deleted all my social media apps. I needed real interactions, not the kind of narratives people push online.”
Though he wasn’t creating music at the time, Kojo Cue and a group of friends worked on building a music marketing company, formed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The venture aimed to support Ghanaian artists with streaming, PR, and marketing. “We started by helping three artists for free, just to get things going,” he said.
Now, after a long break, Kojo Cue is making a return with a new song titled Abebrese, featuring fellow artist Fameye.
