Mr. Peter Otokunor Boamah

A member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Peter Otokunor Boamah, has accused government for politically scheming the unrest at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, in order to get rid of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso.

[ads1]Following Monday’s disturbances led by the SRC on the Kumasi campus of the University, there has been a growing call within the public for the dismissal of or resignation of the VC.

Speaking on Atinka AM Drive on Friday, Peter Otokunor Boamah, who is aspiring for the National Deputy Secretary position of the NDC, suggested that the Education Minister publicly supported the conversion of the University Halls, which was heavily opposed by the student body.

He noted that the VC only implements decisions taken by the University Council and that it is unacceptable to hold him (VC) accountable for such decisions.

The Governing Council of the University has since been dissolved following the incident and a 7-member interim council has been instituted to bring the University back in operation within 14days.
